Mr. Romantic's Fantasy Dates

Girl, you are in for some trouble. Luckily, this date doesn't start until you say “no”- and this delicious fish and toasted barley will have you screaming yes long before you get back to the bedroom. The cherry in the pesto is a little shoutout to Ivy’s opening-chapter virginity, and trust me, it tastes as good as Nolan thinks it will.
2 fish fillets, sea bass if possible, any white salt-water fish if you can't.
1 bunch kale
½ c pitted cherries
½ c slivered almonds
½ c EVOO
½ c Parmesan
1 cup barley
3 cups chicken broth
First things first, toss the kale, cherries, almonds, parm, and EVOO into a food processor. Whaz that up, as my old pal Jamie Oliver would say.
Next, heat a small pot over medium with a splash of EVOO and toss the barley in. Now toast those little babies for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add your broth, bring it to a boil, then turn the heat to low and cover. Let it cook for as long as your package directions say, they vary.
Finally, sauté your fish in another splash of oil, seasoned simply with a little salt and pepper. Slap it all on a plate, enjoy your meal, and get ready to run.
